After putting it off and off and off (I'm pretty sure since May), I've finally decided to take a few days off and chill out! I will be heading up to my Aunt's to play catch up and hang out with my cousins, visit my friends & their new baby, and do as little as humanely possible otherwise. I'm hoping this will refresh me a little before I return to work; nothing beats a few days to disconnect and recharge. It's not European beach getaway, but it's better than nothing! Haha
Dulce de Leche macaroons from my local bakery have become my favorite weekend treat and a regular Sunday afternoon craving.
I remember lusting over the Chloe multi buckle flats many seasons ago and am happy that the concept is making a comeback (and for a ton less). My wallet and past self are thoroughly satisfied: J. Crew & Betsey Johnson
Friday! It's finally here! Unfortunately this one is bittersweet. My friend & coworker, Carlos, is returning to Spain on Sunday-- after 7 months of awesomness in the US! I and my cohorts will be spending the weekend celebrating, but it definitely will not be the same without him in the office!
Anywho, here's an awesome video to start off your weekend right. If you love the Wizard of Oz, you'll love this awesome music video! Check it out & let me know what you think!
My new (old) favorite shoes was a pair of tan hand-me-down penny loafers I'd received from my shoe-loving aunt. I'd already deemed them my go-to fall shoe when suddenly the bottom of one of them gave out in the middle of me walking. Just like that!
I have already started searching out the perfect replacement but have yet to make a decision on which kind to go with: leather, patent leather, suede, platform, black, brown, maroon, matte, brown stitching, black stitching-- and let's not even start on the different brands--- the options seem endless! Here are a few contenders I can imagine throwing on with a pair of skinny jeans and a comfy, over-sized (preferably striped) sweater:
I recently started to re-watch one of my favorite series of all time, Gossip Girl, for the umpteenth time. I just finished season 1 and have had to resist absolutely DYING over their amazing wardrobe all over again (past season Louis and Marc has totally brought me back & had me squeeing). And along with falling in love with Chuck Bass all over again, I've found myself subconsciously moving toward a very Blair-esque color palette for Fall. Reds and navy blues along with head-wraps and headbands-- there's something very clean & easy about her classic American style with an upper East side twist. Here are a few of my currently-coveting picks inspired by the Queen Bee herself:
Hello readers! I feel like it has been ages! Ages since I put pen to paper! Ages since my sentences made sense! I feel like I'd been stuck in slow motion during a race and now, finally, got out of my haze and caught up.
It's been a very hard 8 months or so and, it seems, the world just keeps on going even if I'm not! Life is one big game of hide & seek and I haven't exactly established my hiding place yet. But it's moving along and I'm SO glad to be back (and to have you reading, of course)! Ready or not!
I spend this past weekend with the boyfriend doing errands, having an at home-theater double features (Iron Man 2 and The Great Gatsby), stuffing our faces with awfully good (but regrettable) burgers from Five Guys, and spending as much time lazying about as possible. It was a faaantastic end to a week away-- but also painful to come home to a messy room, laundry, and a ton of to-do's! Sunday dread always finds its way of butting in! Hahah!
It was 2 years ago today that I finally did what I had wanted to do for so many years: I started this blog. I'd written my first entry after coming back from a month of being technology-free in Italy, dreaming about it. I remember coming up with the name of the blog on a mini Hello Kitty notepad I'd brought along on my trip, thinking of the entry ideas and writing them down on the balcony at 4am and making fashion inspiration collages from the magazines I'd brought with me. I still remember sitting down in front of my PC and writing that first entry.
And here it is, 2 years later, a product of a girl who had an idea and decided to finally run with it. It's pretty crazy to think about! Over the past couple of years this little happy space in the blogosphere has served as a place to bear my soul and share my life-- and has gotten me to where I am today. I don't think that I could have gotten through the last 2 years without this blog-- or the amazing people who take the time to read it: YOU!
Thank you, every single one of you, for reading! Even if this is your first time to my blog, or if you visit me weekly (or, these days, whenever I get a moment to collect my thoughts). I am still shocked when people tell me that they read my blog (from family members to friends to fellow bloggers) and am truly, honestly surprised that they do! So thank you! Really! I hope you stick it out with me for a few more years!
Ladies and gents, this is Stumphrey, brother of Corgnelius, and possibly the cutest Corgi I have come across these days. I literally squealed when I saw him-- is he not the cutest thing ever? And he's winking, what a little charmer! It makes me happy just to look at him haha!
Anywho, this weekend I will be resting up with the boyfriend, running about doing errands, and trying to put myself back together before the week starts all over again! Hope you guys will do the same!
I know you guys have been hearing it for quite sometime, but I really am totally in Fall mode. The release of all of the new Fall collections isn't helping much, but I feel like, for once, Mother Nature & I are in sync; NYC weather has been glorious, with morning and evenings having that tiny chill in the air that allows for a coat. I cannot wait to make my way over to Zara this week & try a few of these beauties on for size.
As much as I live for summer, my coat junkie is dying for Fall. I love the crisp transition between seasons and revel in throwing on a gorgeous coat over a nice outfit. I've been spotting a few outerwear pieces that are gorgeous, and this amazing Zara coat reminded me of this shot from Glamour UK. It reminds me of the last few days of summer when Mother Nature is just letting go of summer and there's that slight chill in the air once the sun goes down.
