On Saturday, my high school had its final barbecue before it closes its doors for good this week. A ton of alumni came out to celebrate, talk about the past with their favorite teachers and old friends, and walk the halls one last time. Although I was sick as a dog, I would have not missed it for the world. I got to catch up with some of the people I'd lost contact over the years and even see a few teachers that had gone onto bigger things since my time there. Even though years have past, in no time at all we were talking and acting and laughing like we were 16 again, it was both fantastic and hysterical. But, truly, the day was so bittersweet. To look into classrooms, sit in desks, and wander the halls one last time, knowing that I wouldn't be able to come back and visit ever again was really so surreal. I'm only sorry that the students will no longer be taught by the amazing faculty, make amazing friends, or grow the BSSG family; I would not be who or where I am today without any of that.
